How to Take Care of Lingerie

Most lingerie is expensive, delicate you love it and you want to keep it looking prefect! Some People will lovingly hand wash their lingerie this is of course the best way to keep you lingerie looking amazing! But not everyone has the time to sit and washing all our smalls by hand! So the washing machine is the way forward! Be sure to look at the label inside to make sure you can machine wash it first then if you haven’t already invest in a lingerie wash bag to keep you lingerie separate and to stop it being damaged by rougher materials and protects your machine from stray escaped bra wires and or embellishments that have accidently fallen off!  Remember to use good washing power/tablets & softener!

Always separate your dark, light/white & colourful lingerie before washing. Colours can run and ruin your favourite items whether you are hand washing or machine washing. Always sort your delicate fabrics from tougher & rougher fabrics like denims. This will lessen the friction of rubbing against each other.

Remember Corsets are one of the biggest investments you can make in lingerie look after it like it’s the crown jewels! Sending it to the dry cleaners to be cleaned is this best was to keep it looking amazing for years to come. I know this can be expensive so don’t sending it to the cleaners ever time you wear it it..Sponge clean it in-between and try wearing a strapless cami underneath to stop dirt & sweat damaging & staining the Lining.

Never Ever tumble dry your Lingerie the heat can melt elastic, break down fibres & reshape the wires & the boning in your bras. Drying outside on a washing line is recommended but not everyone has this option so either flat drying or on a washing airer is another option! Lingerie itself is normal very quick drying so it should take to long to get them dry and back in you Lingerie draw.

A few Extra Tips

  • Never machine wash silks always hand wash in warm water with mild soap for 5 minutes! Rinse in cool water place on a flat towel to dry. Add a teaspoon vinegar to the cool water to help remove any residual soap.
  •  Stockings & tights can be machine washed & tumble dried! But add a fabric dryer sheet to remove the static built up while washing.
  • When hand washing don’t wring out lingerie. Instead, gently squeeze suds through items, and rinse with more cold water. Then blot items with a towel and lie flat to dry.
